Vitamin Creative Space at Art Basel | Paris 2024<\/strong> In Shao Fan\u2019s recent works, through a precise, delicate brushwork, we are taken on a journey through a world where humans, gods, beasts, and objects once coexisted and mutually influenced each other. These images lead us to imagine that perhaps they collectively reflect a city that has disappeared after experiencing various civilizations. The scenes seem to offer a glimpse and contemplation of this hidden, unseen world. The artist appears to polish and restore a part of this enigmatic puzzle to an unrecurring limit, truthfully telling us: \u201c Yes, I have been there, but I have not seen it.\u201d<\/p>\n The halved apple contains a certain ineffable mystery of the universe’s structure. In this process of “investigating things” through brush and ink, the artist does not cultivate the delusion of transforming the world through presenting insights.
